使用图书馆

The MHS library operates differently from most public or university libraries. The library staff assists researchers with navigating our catalogs and collection guides, developing research strategies, locating other libraries that may hold materials of interest. Our goal is to help researchers find the resources they need to complete their projects.

While we strive to provide researchers with access to all our collections, our primary concern must be to preserve our unique materials, for that reason we enforce strict security protocols. The pages in this section—会发生什么要带什么如何准备--will help you become familiar with our policies and procedures. We strongly encourage researchers to review this information and to register for a Portal1791 account before visiting the library.

图书馆开放时间

The MHS library is open to the public for onsite research visits. To protect the health of researchers and staff amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the MHS  has implemented the following temporary policies:

  • The library is open 周一 ——星期五day, 10AM to 4:45PM.
  • 研究 is by appointment only.
  • Appointment requests must be made by 2pm Thursday of the previous week.
  • 研究ers must provide proof they have received an FDA approved COVID-19 vaccination prior to arriving at the MHS
  • A well-fitted mask covering the nose and mouth must be worn in all public spaces

请访问我们的 Appointment Request Form to select your preferred visit dates.

The MHS 图书馆 is committed to providing all researchers with access to our collections and will continue to offer expanded reference and reproduction services. 研究ers who are unable to visit the MHS at this time are encouraged to explore our virtual reference 选项和 reproductions services for more information about the resources available to all researchers at this time.

Please contact the Reader Services staff ( or 通过电子邮件) with any questions about preparing to use the library. 或者,去"Virtual Reference and Chat Services" page to start a live chat with library staff.
